He was so interesting in the mere one hour that he lectured, that I was intrigued and decided to buy his book. The book is basically a noveldrawing upon his own experiences and is a real page turner. I wish it had been a longer read because I enjoyed is so much.Product details

I met Sam Wazan at a book festival and was so inspired by his story that I purchased the book. His story of growing up during a civil war was both breathtaking and heartbreaking. I cannot imagine anyone living as he did, caught between enemy fire and yet attempting to live a normal life of going to school, having friends, applying for a job. His unbiased account of the three sections -- Muslim, Christian, and Jew -- shows that all are equally culpable, equally prejudiced, equally unwilling to hear the truth. Mr. Wazan is an advocate for peace and I herald his commitment. This book is a must-read if we hope to understand the conflicts in today's world.
Mr. Wazam's novel presents a vivid, detailed picture of life disrupted by ongoing, unending violence and deprivation in war-torn Beirut, while offering a possible, positive outcome. It contains valuable lessons for people in many walks of life.
This novel is shocking, dramatic and visual. Sam Wazan personally takes the reader into the epicenter of the Lebanese Civil War. He will show you the blood, he will show you the suffering, he will show you the worst of humanity. This novel will show the worst of humanity and how religions revolved around peace will be used as tools of war, but it will hopefully inspire people to reach a state of mutual harmony.
The story was very easy to read. It caught my attention well enough that I had been able to finish within 2 nights. But along with the story it also shed light on the culture in a light that showed multiple sides of the conflict. The Christian militants, the Muslim militants, and the Christian and Muslim moderate civilians who were caught in the cross fire. I would definitely recommend to both teachers and for personal reads.

This book is something that you definitely need to read. This book is a real, visual, personal story that will open your eyes to the true affects of war. Sam is inspirational and a great role model to our generation. Peace is not out of reach. I'm glad that I read this book because I have had my eyes opened. I now know more about cultures and religions. I recommend that you also visit his website for pictures of the very real place that this book reveals.
Trapped In Four Square Miles is a heart-wrenching story of war in Lebanon. It truly opened my eyes to the severity of all conflict and how it affects far more than just those who are on either side of the gun. I couldn't put the book down. To say that this book is thought-provoking is an understatement. Comparing this book to A Thousand Splendid Suns or The Kite Runner is unfair; Trapped In Four Square Miles is far more raw. I have and will continue to recommend this book to those around me.
